Anybody have a 7mm Weatherby? What kind of velocity are you getting with 150 and 160 gr bullets? How hard is this calibre on barrels?

I own a Remington 700 Classic chambered in 7mm Wby Mag and really enjoy the rifle. It has a 24 inch barrel and still shoots pretty fast for a 7 mag.

I have not shot all that many 150 grain loads in it. I looked at my records and it looks like I have gotten very close to 3300 fps with 150's but not quite.

I prefer the 160 grain bullets in a 7mm Magnum.
My current load is consists of a Remington case, a Fed215M primer, 72 grains of IMR 7828 and a 160 grain Nosler Partition. The velocity is 3160 and the groups are 3/4 of an inch over and over.

My rifle has had close t0 1500 rounds through it and I can detect no wear on the barrel so far.

I have checked loads for a number of people using 7mm Remington Magnum rifles and for the most part about 3050 fps is all they can SAFELY get with a 160 grain bullet, even in some that have 26 inch barrels.

And if you do not reload the 7mm Wby Mag is a MUCH better choice. Factory 7mm Rem Mag ammo is so underloaded it is nuts. The last Federal 160 loads I chronographed in a 26 inch Browning were only going 2850 fps. Factory 7mm Wby Mag ammo will come VERY close to what is advertised.
