WesternmassmanBrowning X-Bolt Opinions
Handled two today, synthetic and wood and they felt pretty nice in hand. Has anyone had any experience with them they care to share? I am most interested in first shot repeatability. Probable caliber would be 7/08 (if so chambered).
I have only handled one as well, but I liked it. The local shop was very impressed with the thought that went into the design of the rifle as well. But so far they have only received 2 of them from Browning, and this is a shop that sells lots of Browning.

mikethebearI handled one at Sportsman's Warehouse. I was impressed that the bolt throw was 60 degrees. You can cycle the bolt fast. If I just wanted a rifle to hunt with for my lifetime, and not be an heirloom gun it would be better than some. The trigger is very good, and makes me want a new model 70.

Fish30114Shot an -06 last week at the range, like a lot of A-bolts, it wasa uncanny accurate straight out of the box, with factory ammo! I'm talking sub moa, EASY. I've seen it with a lot of Brownings, folks don't seem to think they are quality, but they often seem to shoot well, at least their bolt rigs.....I liked the stock geometry BTW.

Thomas JonesI am impressed with the design.
But I don't like the look. It makes me realy want a look at the new model 70.
Its probably not a problem for a lot of guys, But I prefer a hinged floor plate to a detachable mag , and i would rather have a real steel hinged bottom , than the lighter pot meatel on the browning.
But the trigger on the X-bolt and the bolt design imakes me think the rifle would be lights out acurate...tj3006

After thinking about it a bit, I don't think I do either. They seem almost slightly futuristic.

AtkinsonIt's not a Mauser or a pre 64 M-70 Win. and therein lies the problem...
