Jay JohnsonIf you ever want to shoot anyting heavier than a 160 Gr. bullet go with a 1 in 9.
You can stabilize the 120 and 140 with a 1 in 12 twist.
I've got a Krieger 1 in 10" in 280 Rem and it shoots 140's and 150's into incredibly tight groups. I have not shot anything heavier yet to find out how heavy I can go with it.
I would have ordered a 1 in 9" or even 8" to shoot up to 175's but I came into the barrel by accident. My gunsmith had it on hand from a guy who cancelled his order to make a 7-08. Because of this, I got the barrel without waiting the standard 2-3 months. If you are ordering the barrel, I'd get a 1-9".

<9.3x62>I had a 10" twist 284 that loved the Sierra 175 BT. I think 9.5" twist is a good all-around choice for a 280.
If, however, you really only intended to shoot 120-140, an 11 or 12 twist will work just fine.
