blong04Which .300 Win Mag (Rem/T3/WBY)
I am looking to buy a .300 Win Mag and have found a Rem 700 BDL(Syn/SS), Weatherby Mark V Stainless, and Tikka T3 (Syn/SS) all for about the same price through various sources. Any opinions on which would be the better rifle? Thanks.

sakofanWhat about a Sako 75 in stainless synthetic??
Never regreted it.
The T3 has not received favorable reviews in my circle of friends.
Out of those options, I would go Rem. 700, I guess..sakofan..

UNCC GradThe Tikka T3 felt to me like a cheapened version of the Whitetail. You know how some guns have a feel of character when you hold them? The T3 didn't. Out of the three you picked, I would go with the Remington, although a Sako stainless sure would be nice, but it is not close in price.

TC1If those are the choices, I guess the REM700 also. A Winchester M-70 Classic (Syn/SS) if it's my cash though.

Brad, whats the going price for a new Mark V Accumark?? Around $1100.00??
My Sako SS 75 ran about $1100.00, maybe less.
The Mark V's may not be that expensive. Iam going off memory..sakofan..A Mark V cant touch my Sako ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif)

blong04The Mark V I am looking is owned by a friend-of-friend. It has never been fired, and I can pick it up for about $550 (close the same price as the T3 and the 700 BDL). I think they normally run about $900 new but I may be wrong. For that price I would definitely get the Sako (which I have seen for under $900).
What about the older Tikka Whitetail Hunters? I have seen a couple of these in .300 Win Mag as well. I have a Whitetail Hunter in 7mm-08, but I am not sure how I like it yet. I have only tried the Hornady Light magnums in it and the groups were not great (even using a bench rest in an indoor tube). I bought some Federal 140 gr Partions to see how they shoot.

Gonzo FreakPowerI have to add this, can't be helped: Browning A-bolt. You can have anything from the cold Stainless Stalker to the fancy wood/blue. I've experienced the utmost in reliability and accuracy with mine.
Only thing that will require some extra thought is the BOSS, which I have. If you handload at all you could probably get the accuracy without the BOSS. I set mine at 8.5 and have not touched it in 2 years. It's a mixed blessing. Recoil reduction is great at the cost of noise, but then you can always screw on the CR (conventional recoil) BOSS. With limited testing, switching between the two doesn't affect accuracy of POI.

joecool544Out of the guns you listed you said they were all close to same price. Go with the weatherby fully adjustable triger Remington trigers are junk. I have Remington Weatherby Ruger Winchester Sako rifles. And the weatherby and Sako's are better IMO than the others. BUY THE WEATHERBY

AtkinsonI'm not impressed with your choices, but I suppose I'd go with the Wby or Rem....
I much prefer a Winchester or Ruger...I would really suggest a pre 64 m-70 or Mauser in that caliber....they hold their value also in the event you ever wanted to sell them...I still shoot an old 300 H&H pre 64 Win....but a lot of nice 300 Win mags are still available in the pre 64.

NebraskaI'd go for the SS Mark V. If you don't like it, you can sell it and buy a SS Rem with money left over.

blong04I appreciate all of thge feedback. The guy with the Weatherby decided to keep it, and I ended up finding a still new Tikka Whitetail Hunter synthetic/stainless for a good price so I bought it.
