I'm curious if anyone has used the 9.3x62 on whitetailed deer, and if so what kind of load did you use? I don't have my own reloading equipment yet so I was thinking of trying some of the S&B factory stuff for the time being. I know a 286gr bullet is quite a bit for deer, but it's a round nose soft point so it should expand fairly quicky. Once I get my reloading gear I was thinking of trying the Nosler Ballistic Tip in the 250gr, or the Barnes X 250gr I've heard excellent results on thin skinned game.

Although not taking deer back in Wisconsin with a 9.3 x 62, I have taken them in Wisconsin with a 338/06. ( use to live back that way)

With a relatively mild load with a 250 grain bullet, the bullet just passed thru like the deer was butter and did a nice job of downing it.

You will experience a lot less meat damage than you would by a a 7 Mag or 300 Mag with a light bullet up close. I used a round nose, and it did an excellent job. I prefer round noses anyway, but based on bullets sales, most manufacturers are dropping them like hot potatoes.

Guess we are a dying breed, in the days where everyone thinks they need a new bullet this season, because the one that was hot stuff last season, is old hat this season. If it worked last year, it won't work this year.

I like RN's as well, I have bought two packs of speer 270 gr bullets and thye would be good for your whitetail deers as they are supposedly soft. I will be using them on similar thinned skinned stuff here and would expect the same results as what one would get on a white tail. Although the Hip Bones and muscle area of a Roo's behind is extremely thick set and tough on larger specimens.

I have never used the S&B or any other factory load in my 9.3 x 62 but I expect that it would work well on whitetails from any angle..

I killed an 8 point buck in PA last year with a 250 Barnes X bullet ..He dropped in his tracks and it left an exit hole about the size of a half dollar, with minimum meat damage...

Try the 232 grain Norma factory loads, they will absolutely knock a deer flat. They shoot well out of both my CZ 550 and my SIG SHR 970.

I hunt with a 9,3x74R quite a bit [similar ballistics to the 9,3x62]. I have taken whitetail deer with the 270 Speer and the 286 Woodleigh Soft. Both bullets worked very well. I have also taken some wild pigs with them and several other bullets, do a search in the Medium Bore Forum as there is quite a bit of info on the various 9,3 bullets. My 9,3 double has become my favorite rifle to hunt with under 40 calibre.
