Yugo 24/47 and .322 bullets
Dumb question, I know that i need to use .323 bullets for the 8mm mauser, but, as part of some .323 bullets i purchased i also received a box of .322 bullets. Has anyone else have experience using these to reload? or is it safer not to use them at all.

Thanks in advance.

I've never run across bullets in .322". Are they a cast bullet sized to .322". It's possible that they were sized for use in a 32 WinSpl application. As far as the safety issue goes, I wouldn't have a problem using them in place of .323"s.

they look like jacketed soft points and the box says .322, i also measured about 10 of them. I believe it weighed 150 or 170 grains. I want to say the box said Hornady, i can double check when i get home.

Roll EyesThe 32 Winchester special used .322 dia. bullets. Pushed many through 8mm rifles and seemed to do OK. In fact my G-43 loved them. flameroger

Roger,

I've got a couple of boxes of some older Hornady 170s for 32 Spl, both show bullet dia to be .321" Confused

Not that .001" makes a difference one way or the other in the real world .

popcornWell for the most part I was relieing on a 50 year old memory but I checked a loading manual prior to my first response and indeed it called for .322 dia. The 32-40 does call out for .321 dia. and I have pushed those through 8mm tubes also.
ConfusedHaving gone a little farther ; the Cartriges of the World also says the 32 win special uses a .321 bullet. bewildered
There is a strong possibility here that I may be full of poopy or there really is a mystery! flameroger

FWIW, I wouldn't hesitate to try .322 bullets in an 8mm Mauser if the barrel was for .323 bullets.

I wouldn't hesitate to use .321 bullets as well.....

See how they shoot!

I checked the box, its says Remington Components and not Hornady as i erroneously said earlier. I will indeed develop some loads using these bullets. Thanks for the responses.
