urdubobHave any of used a 300wsm on african game?
My buff hunt was cancelled . I have had to come up with a new plan. I have not had time to work up loads. I was going to use 150 Balistic tips for the small stuff like spring buck and Bles buck. I was going to use 180 failsafe for Kudu, Eland and Gems buck.
What do you think....any feed back would be helpful I leave next Week.
Range will be 100- 300 Yards!!!!!!!

<Harry>Client took his 300 WSM to RSA along with 375 H&H and had nothing but high praise for the 300. He used the 180's as I recall.
Groups are great.
Win 70 Ftwt.
[ 05-15-2003, 03:17: Message edited by: Harry ]The only place in Africa I've been is Cairo, but I'd keep things simple (KISS)... the 300's and 180's were made for each other and are all you really need. My 300 WSM loved the 180 Failsafes (both factory and handloads) and has accounted for Mule Deer and Elk.
urdubob,
I used the 300wm on my trip with 180gr Nosler Partitions. Took animals ranging from springbok, to kudu, to gemsbok with good results from 80yds to 265yds. I see no reason why your 300wsm would not serve you well. Would recommend that you stay with one load, you never know what opportunity will present itself. The 180gr Failsafe will cover it all. Remember shot placement is King!
Should you have just half as much fun on your trip as I did on mine you will have a wonderful time.
Kind regards
Carl
