9.3x62 Questions
I ended up ordering a cz-550 American Monday getting ready to
Order loading components and just wanted some advice.

First of all is Norma brass($63.99/100Midway)better than Lapua($47.88/100midsouthshooterssupply)?

Second I won�t to put iron sights on it any recommendations
Heights ,brands I will probably order from brownells
And will the NECG ruger receiver sight fit the cz?

The NECG reciever sight will not fit as the CZ mounting dovetails are metric. 19 mm.

Had great experience with both Norma and Lapua brass. If the Norma and the Lapua brass were the same price I would probably go with the Lapua. Certainly don't see $16.00 worth of difference between the two. Maybe someone else has different experience.

I also have a CZ550 American in 9.3x62, and will eventually add some iron sights to the rifle. I am leaning towards a pop-up peep sight on Talley bases made by Brockman's Gunsmithing. According to their web site, the peep sight exposes itself when your remove your scope (in Talley QD mounts) from the rifle, and is adjustable for windage and elevation. It looks and sounds pretty slick. Hopefully I will have the funds to do this sooner rather than later...

Whoa, did I get hosed [Frown] Earlier this year, I paid $68.00/100 [Eek!] for Lapua. Forget where that was, but, I know where the next batch is coming from.

That Lapua stuff I got was pretty nice. Except for one case that was about 2.5 grains light, all the rest in the package were within 1.5 grains of the average.

I've got a 550 American in 9.3 Mauser on the way right now. I don't plan to scope it, as it will be my timber rifle for hogs, bears and elk. When it arrives, I'll have it rigged with Ashley Outdoors Ruger back-up sight and one of their steel ramp / blade sets. I can hardly wait... Okie John.

Norma cases if you want to go for durability, nothing beats those suckers in the "times reloaded"-column, but if you are going for max speed, use Lapua... they are generally a tad thinner, giving you more case volume, lower pressures and higher velocity....

The CZ Lux model comes with a great set of iron sights and has a stock made for open sight use.

The American model stock design is for scope use as has a sightless barrel.

One drop of Hunbrol enamel paint in dull signal orange will improve that front sight considerably.

I like my 9.3x62. Recoil is fine, no problems with me. But some with the scope: I needed three sessions with 45 rounds to get the scope sighted in: first the scope slipped forward. Then one screw broke. `Smith redrilled all 8 holes to 3,5 mm and used the best screws he could find. Lasted at least 12 rounds. I intend to go hunting as soon as possible.

I built my 9.3x62 on a mauser 98,regular weaver bases and rings,never had any problems,I use either a cheap 4x12 bushnell or my 2.5x8 Leopold,both have held their zero`s after hundreds of full power 250 and 286gr loads.

I have a lot of both Norma and Lapua and the Lapua is the best brass in the world, right there with RWS IMO.....

My favorite bullest are the 320 Gr. Woodleigh, 286 Nosler Partition and the 286 Bal. Tip by Nosler.

I will trying the 23? GS HV bullet very soon and I have used the GS FN solid on deer with good results and little bruising...
