rickt3007MM 150 gr. Ballistic Tips and variants
I have used this bullet some in my 7MM mauser with good results with the Ballistic silvertip version. I recently bought some of the Nosler Blems in the standard version and plan on finding an accurate load pushing them out of my 7MM Remington magnum to around 2900 fps. I have a specific setup where I will most likely see deer along a treeline no more than 300yards away but no less than 200 yards either. I also have some 150 gr. Sierra Gamekings, anyone think this bullet will perform better than the Ballistic Tip? Are the Ballistic Silvertips any different other than the coating thann the standard Ballistic tips? Biggest deer may weigh around 200 pounds.

Big Bore Boar HunterYou will be fine using a 150 gr on deer, just keep in mind that ballistic tips re designed to expand, keep the aimpoint away from heavy bone. The Winchester version of the bullet available to reloaders uses a moly coating and a different colored tip, but the loading data and construction is the same between the two. Terminal performance should be the same between the two. If you want a bullet that holds together a little better, look toward the accubond and the like.

fredj338The bullets are the same. You are keeping the vel. down so you should be fine. Like BBBH said, I would stay off bone.

1911reloaderGamekings should work great; that's just what they were designed for. Expansion should be close to the Nosler BT's. Gamekings might also be a little more accurate, to boot. The Lubalox coating is the only thing that is different between the Nosler ST and Nosler BT.

rickt30066.0 grains of RL22 under these 150 grain BT's shot 3 3shot groups into an average of .610. I think this load will work.

seafire/B17GI love the Ballistic Tips, but always recommend to keep the MV under 2700 fps.. which precludes its use in Magnums..
Too much velocity, and you are looking at meat destruction, being blood shot... some guys can live with it, I can't...
In that application, I'd recommend the Sierra Game King you mentioned...or a 154 grain Hornady...
I shot a 200+ pound mulie at 280 yards with a 150 Btip from my 7mag square in the top shoulder.
Dumped him instantly, small hole in, medium exit hole, took out the bottom of 2 vertebrae and partial scapula.
Don't remember charge but IMR4831, near minimum or mid range charge....maybe 63.0 grains? Would have to double check on that. Fed 215 Gold Medal primers, WW brass.

Thomas JonesI think your lod will be very good for your purpose. If It were me, I might use a 160 grain balistic tip for deer and the 160 grain acubond for elk.
