winter project
This summer the good folks at luxus walnut had posted a stock in the classifieds. it was a pretty nice looking piece and i did need a winter project so it started - again. 1st the stock, it was made for long action ruger 77 with an accuracy innovations full length bedding block inside so that made up my mind on what action to use. Looking around long enough located a reasonable mark II ruger 77 in 06. Not being overfully fond of ruger barrels, and having maybe, just maybe an abundance of 06's what barrel and caliber came next. More looking around found a good deal on a top grade douglas in 7mm. Holy chit - i didn't have a 7x57 in the rack. That decision was made quick. Now to stick the 3 pieces together, reblue, reshape the bolt handle to get rid of that terrible sharp corner dogleg, blue and sent off to carol at ahlmans for checkering. As you see she did her normal masterful job. a 3-9 nikon monarch, found on ar classifieds a couple weeks ago completed the project. Now i have to find something to do for the rest of the winter
