Big Wonderful WyomingRemington AAC Model 7 300 Whisper
How are these things, my local dealer had one second hand that looked new? I went back the next day and it was gone.
In handling it looked like a nice little rifle in a anemic little cartridge that would be a lot of fun to shoot.

p dog shooterIf the barrel was threaded add a suppressor and have a fun time

Ed ScarboroI have the Ruger American Ranch in 300 Blackout and it is unbelievably accurate for the money. It has a 16" barrel and it is threaded for a suppressor.

Sid PostThey are nice light easy to handle rifles with enough oomph for what people hunt CONUS. It most closely resembles a 30-30 in capability and comes in, as you note, a light nimble package in bolt action form.
If light bullets at ~2400FPS and subsonic heavies are your thing, this is a good choice. A suppressor makes it even better for feral hogs.

marshmandanI was skeptical of the 300blk to start out with. After playing with it pretty hard the last few years I wouldn't be without one. I don't know how many times I've had deer hunts break out into small game hunts by simply changing bullets. A long range hunting round it isn't, but at 30-30 ranges its sure done well for me.
I killed three of those quail before the deer at the feeder realized what was going on.
I have a Barnes Precision AR and an Encore. I don't go many places without the Encore anymore.

Fury01Those Taliban Squirrels or ISIS Squirrels?

N E 450 No2They look like a couple of good skillet squirrels to me.

marshmandanRest assured those little guys don't go to waste. They either get fried or end up in a massive pot of squirrel gumbo I cook for the guys at work.
BWW I should have added that while I own quite a few Remington rifles, I would look very hard at the Ruger Ranch Carbine if I was contemplating another 300blk.
I have been very happy with my Model Seven, but I've had it for twenty years. It's a stainless model chambered in 308. The two most recent 700's I've bought, a 6mm Rem(SPS) and 308(AAC-SD) both produced in the last five years, have been very disappointing. The finish rusts like no other firearm I've ever owned and the triggers are junk. I won't go into the accuracy issues except to say that be prepared to restock and replace triggers.
