Here's the deal. I bought a beautiful rifle from an outstanding member here in .358 WSM. Problem is there is no factory ammo and I'm having problems even finding dies, although I'm sure I could have some made. This was all fully disclosed, but it was SOOOO pretty (I got in trouble a few time in college based on the same premise).

I don't have the time or inclination to work up loads, or reload, so if I stick with the .358, I'd have to go to Superior or another custom reloader to supply ammunition -- a definite possiblity.

Or, I could rebarrel to .325 WSM. I'd welcome anyone's thoughts, or observations (other than I shouldn't buy pretty rifles in wierd calibres -- that's something my wife would say).

Frankly, I can't find a comparison of the ballistics on the internet between the two calibres, which makes it hard to make a choice.

I like heavy bullets and tend to overgun. I think max on .325 is 220 grain, while I could get a 250 grain out of the .358. But a .220 grain is probably enough for a light rifle, which is what this would be for me.

Again, I welcome everyone's thoughts and any ballistic info on the two calibres or reloading info or source of dies on the .358 WSM.

Have you tried looking for dies under "358 sambar"? If I recall correctly, that's the same thing.

I'm not sure why you picked up a wildcat if you have no inclination to reload. I would start with who you bought it from. I'm sure they can tell you where to get dies and what loads the rifle likes. You probably don't have to spend a bunch of time in load development if you get the recipes from the person that owned the rifle.

Yes, that is rather puzzeling. Do you have any friends nearby who reload? If so maybe you could get the dies and components and strike a deal.

I so hapen to have a 35Sambar. Great cartridge. I have Redding custom dies for it. If I was doing it again with 20/20 hindsight I would go Lee or Hornady Custom dies, way cheaper.

I would go the reloading route or Supirioe ammo road.

In the 35Sambar you can run projectiles from 180 grains to 310 grians.

200gr Hornady's 68gr AR2208=Varget 3000fps
225gr Woodleighs 75gr AR2209 = H4350 2850fps
225gr Hydro's 65gr AR2208 2750fps
250gr Woodleigh 73gr AR2209 2710fps
275gr Woodleigh 70.5gr AR2209 2580fps

These are hot loads in my rifle and I run 1 grain less in the powder. Loose between 20 and 50 fps.
