No the 9.3x62 is not faster than the .338 and has no advantage over a 338 that I can see, actually it is a slightly inferior cartridge but never the less it is a grand old cartridge and I have used it extensively...It will toss a 320 gr. Woodleigh at 2400 FPS with a 26" tube or a 286 gr. bullet at 2520 FPS with a warm handload.....It will hold more rounds in the magazine than most 338s....

IMHO the 9.3x62 is the way to go over the 64 if you want more power get the .375 H&H for brass isues mainly.

The 9.3x62 is a great cartridge and I have only owned one for about a year or less I feel it will be a great pig caliber and offer much more killing power than say the 30/06.
