Code49.3x62 Project Rifle in the White.
Well my 9.3x62 project rifle is in the white and bedded to its partially finished stock.
I will finish the stock myself and then send the project back for final rust blueing.
Barrel: 25" Lothar Walthar pre chambered and screwed.
Action: FN Mauser '98
Trigger: Timney Sportsman set at approx 3lb.
Guard: Slimmed and shaped.
Stock: Mail Order Slee XX Grade Classic style with two tones of wood. (good for use with a scope but too high for the iron sights fitted).
Recoil Pad: Black Kick-Eez Sorbothane
Safety: Two position Brownells replacement swing safety.
Front Sights: Recknagel ramp and white bead.
Rear: Recknagel two blade express sights. 1st regulated to 50 metres.
Scope: Leupold 1-4x20 VXIIc Shotgun scope with heavy plex reticle and parrallax factory set at 75 yards.
Scope rings: Will soon be replaced with Warne QD items on the weaver grand slam bases.
All current work was done by Nickal Traditional Gunsmiths near Armidale, NSW.
My son and I just took it out for a test fire useing 286 Woodleigh RNSP projectiles and a mild load of 52 grains 2208 in Lapua cases. Recoil was very nice. Just a firm push with a little muzzle rise. Perfect for penetrating future buff without overexpansion.
Cameron put three shots into a 2" circle off hand at 50 metres. (Don't ya hate it when the young ones out shoot you?)
More later.

sputsterExcellent. Am I right, your stock has dual reinforcing crossbolts?
23 November 2008, 10:29
Code4Yes, two cross bolts to stop the furniture 'springing' outwards upon fireing.
I forgot to mention that an Interupter has been fitted to the rear edge of the feed plate so that the bolt can't shut on an empty magazine.
