JTHunt7 x 64
A relative in Tanzania has just acquired a 7 x 64 Brno. Obviously all ammo is a headache in that country and he would like suggestions as to possible re-barrelling or re-chambering to a calibre such as .308 or similar 'easy to find" ammunition.
He would appreciate any help from the many experts on the forum.
Thanks all.

ramrod340For the 308 he would need a spacer in the back of the mag box. Boltface is OK. If he can get 30-06 it would be just a rebarrel.

7X64 brass could be formed from 3006 or 270 win. If your relative is a handloader ammo should be no problem.
It should be easy to re-barrell the rifle to 3006 or 270 win.

ozhunterHi JT,
I use a 7x64 quite a bit and the case is quite similar to the 30/06. It should not be a great problem to change to either a 308 or 30/06.

Or tell your relative that I´ll buy the 7x64 and send him a Sako in 30-06.
