<Eirik>9,3mm bullet mold
For all you 9,3mm shooters, mountain molds now make a bullet mold.

aHunterThats good news. Please tell us homepage adress and specifics.
Ive heard Makarov moulds could be used for training. But thats plinking to different POI mostly.
Thanks, Hermann

<Eirik>Adress is mountainmolds.com. I have used a 260grs mold of my own design for nearly 2 years, and usually shoot .75" groups at 2200fps from my '64.

Andre MertensI own an ancient, unused, single cavity Lyman 366408 that I intend to break in in a not too distant future.

Deputy AlErik--
Is that mold on mountainmolds.com a design of yours?
I've been working on a mold design for my CZ-550 in 9.3 x 62 that is essentially a Lyman #311291 fattened up to nominal .366", with a flat meplat in place of the short radius round nose profile.
I like the website design as well--the adjustable elements provided by the website will enable me to send the design we cobbled up and have it work pretty well.
In my rifle--the nose will be .500"/12.7 mm long, and the driving shank will be .600"/15.2 mm long. This enables seating into the neck without powder space intrusion, slight engraving of driving bands into rifling origin, and is of a length to allow magazine usage.

<Eirik>That bullet is based on my design. I asked dan at mountain molds if he needed the measurment of the gas check shank, whick he did, so I sent him a drawing of the bullet I have made. Shoots very well, and have plenty weight for recoil training prior to hunting season. I have not yet made any attempts to use it for hunting, but I will investigate this possability as soon as the snow melts.
Your design will be bore ride nose design? I have had good results with commercial bullets of this design in other calibers, but at velocities below 2000fps. Usually 9,3mm guns have fairly long throats, so I would prefer as heavy as possible for the case neck LBT design bullets.

Deputy AlEirik--
Yes, it will be a bore rider design.
The throat in the CZ-550 is relatively deep, and the lands are fairly tall, too--.007". This caliber is not very well-established in the USA, but now that Tikka and CZ are both importing affordable good-quality bolt rifles in this caliber, that situation may change.
I'm not interested in maximizing velocities in this caliber--1600 to 1800 FPS is where most of my rifles find their best accuracy with cast bullets. A 285-300 grain bullet at 1800 FPS is a pretty formidable game-taker.
Like you, I want an affordable practice round to prepare for hunting seasons, and the 9.3 x 62 seems to be a potential winner as a cast bullet caliber--good casing/bore capacity ratio, relatively slow twist rate, and good striking energy with heavier bullets at cast bullet velocities. If accuracy can be had at higher velocities (2000-2200 FPS), all the better.
