New baby: 7x64
I tonight closed the deal on a M98 7x64 b uilt in the 70`s and a nice custom job. The stock will at some point just have to go -MC with a very Germasn hogsback.

Now give me stories, loadings etc.

I´ll start out shooting Norma factory ammo with 156 gr bullets and when I get to reloading it´ll be a Barnes 175 gr.

Boha also bought one this week and Husky has one that he uses a lot so we now all have one cal in common...and the 9.3x62, 8x60S, 8x57JS...guess we have a lot in common!

Try VV N560 (ought to be easy enough for you to obtain!) & Hornady 154 Gr. Round Nose and try to find a Lee Factory Crimp Die to go along with the set = Very Nice.

If you do this you won't have to pay the premium for the Barnes'.

Thanks for the info. My only problem at the moment is that I´m buying guns faster than I can shoot them or learn to reload for them: 8x57JS, 8x60S, 9.3x57 and now the 7x54.

Some of us have all the problems Big Grin

I might be getting some more spare time next year, at least now I have the "toys for boys"...and I don´t mean Viagra!

Beware , a friend tried to sight in his Sako75 7x64 with 175grn Barns Xs but they were tumbling, hitting the 100m target on its side. I think this is due to the lenght of the all copper bullet.

I've been using S&B factory loads so far. They're pretty accurate. I haven't reloaded for it yet.

I think they're 174gr.

Hi

Welcome to the club. The 7x64 is such a versatile calibre 139 gn interbonds for long range flat shoooting and 175 gn Speer magtips for the big heavy stuff like wild boar.
55gn of R19 works for me with the 139ers.

Cheers

Mark

Husky promised to send me 100 cases once he comes back from SA...

I´m going to have to do some serious practising on longer ranges, luckily the base has a 300m range.

1000-2000m is also available but lets keep this real. Roll Eyes

cewe,

just for your info, my 7x64 Steyr Pro Mark III seems to "love" S&B 173 grain factory ammo. I was going to reload for the rifle, but tried the S&B first, now I am not reloading.

sierra2: Thanks for the S&B info, they should be quite affordable but reloading has become part of the whole "shooting ritual"...

This is about religious as I get.
