Red mist I would steer clear of the hornady's especially with the extra speed your 338-378 is capable of and given you want to shoot buff.

I would go with say the 300 gr woodleigh insofts and solids or something like the 250 gr Barnes X or the fail safe.

The big case would be able to drive the 300 gr woodleigh at meaninful speeds.

I have had 300 gr .375 Hornady bullets come apart on thin skinned game a t .375 H&H speeds let alone .338-378 speeds.

My favorite 338-378 load is 109 grs of reloader 25 with a 250 gr Nosler Partiton.I have had awesome results and very good accuracy .25 at 100 yards. You have to stick with heavier bullets that are tough built with this caliber or it will blow the bullets to bits.

I agree with PC on this one! When going back and reading an old Guns & Ammo that has the .338 KT (a .338-378 Wby SHORTENED), I read that Ross Seifried "cut an antelope in half" with the 225gr. Interbond, and "lost interest" in that bullet.

I'd either go with the Barnes TSX (first choice) or the Northfork Bullets as a close second.
