<GunGeek>Anyone tried Accurate Reloading's 9.3x62 loads?
Has anyone actually tried the loads for the 9.3x62 shown on the Reloading Pages of Accurate Reloading? 58.0 gr of H4895 under a 285 gr bullet seems a bit warm to me. The Hodgdon manual gives 54.0 gr of H4595 as max for a 285 gr bullet. I know the Hodgdon manuals have toned their loads down a bit in the last few years, but is 58.0 gr reasonable?

<GunGeek>Yes, it was a typo. It should have been H4895 in both cases.

R-WESTGunGeek - Just reading an article last nite in April 2002 Handloader by Barsness about efficient cartridges, which the 9.3x62 obviously is. I remember seeing some data in there for 4895 (don't remember which version) and 286 grainers. I think they were in the range you mentioned. I'll check it out tonite and see what they were, exactly.

Once again, I stand corrected. Gotta stop relying on that memory, like the Dr. told me
Home now, with the Barsness article spread out before me, he shows 53 IMR4895/286 "X"/CCI 200/Norma brass for 2,390 FPS (CZ550 w/23.6" barrel). He also lists 56 I4895 with 286 Partition, all other components the same, for 2,382 FPS.

Atkinson4895 is one of the powders wherein IMR and H are the same burning rate and pressure state....in other words the same powder....
I have shot the 58 gr. load in my two 9.3's without a problem, but I chose 60 grs. of H414 and 58 grs. of RL-15 with the 286 and 300 gr. bullets...I use 56 grs. of FL-15 with the 320 ge. Woodleigh, but as with any printed load start 10% below and work up a grain at a time...These are my max hunting loads for my rifle, perhaps to hot for others rifles.

AtkinsonI must qualify that my guns are either Mauser actions of known quality or Win. M-70 or 54's and I have no problem shooting them at 55,000 PSI
