ldkieris the .270 Winchester fading in popularity?
What it boils down to, is mans desire to have something better. Being never satisfied, we sometimes depart from perfection to embace disaster and imperfection.
Bear, I was comparing factory loaded 270's to some of my handloads. I don't doubt that your getting over 2900 fps with a 150 grainer. That's a pretty stiff load for a 270 I'm sure. I can hot rod my 30/06 a little and get 2920 fps out of 165 grainers but I usually stick with 150's at just a littler over 3000 fps. I never said that the 270 wasn't a great round. It just isn't as versatile or powerful as the 30/06. It may kick a little less but who cares. The 30/06 doesn't kick much either. I don't consider recoil as getting heavy until you get up to the 458 win mag. My 458 Lott is a really heavy kicker once you get those 500 grainers up to above 2300 fps. Now that's fun right there.

vapodogThe simple truth is that even after 80 years of trying nothing has so totally supplanted the .270 as to take over the throne.
The 270 and 30-06 will rein for another 100 years!
