Flaig-ulation
Remember these. They were a little before my time. Flaig's Belgian FN rifle. Round/Octagon bbl in 7mmMag integral rib and front sight but not cut for a blade. Someone started checkering it.

vapodogJHC...get Bill Soverns (or someone) to finish up the checkering.......that's a winner....very nice!
Good looking rifle.
Flaig was just down the road from me when I lived north of Pittsburgh, PA. Back in the 1950's through the 1970's I would stop by Flaig's to drool over the beautiful German and Austrian guns he had there. Lots of stories to tell about Charley Flaig.

MikeG50I wish I could locate some information about Flaigs. I thought I was pretty knowledgable about the gun world for many years back, but had never heard about them. I purchased a used Flaig's FN Mauser 98 in 257 Roberts that is quite impressive. Anyone know of a source of info on them?

Anything specific you would like to know?
As I mentioned, I lived near Hunter's Lodge in Millvale, PA. Charley Flaig owned Hunters Lodge.

MikeG50I guess not anything specific. What I would LIKE to see would be an article printed about them with photos of their shop, Flaig himself, and some examples of guns they produced. What they specialized in, how their guns were regarded, and why they are no longer in business. An article in Gun Digest would be ideal.
If you care to take the time, anything you know about them would be appreciated. Thanks!
Mike
Flaigs, Boy those were the days. Up the widing driveway to rifle project heaven, FN, Sakos all naked and unmolested in the white. Ferlach O/u and drillings. That is before you got to the wood shop in back for a blank. As I said those were the days. I once bought a Super Grade in 243 there for $350.00.

Idaho Sharpshooterdon't forget the Ace barrels...they built my first rifle, a Krag in 25 Krag FL Improved. Came with a tong tool, and Fecker 8X scope for the princely sum of $75 back in the summer of 1964. A lot of money for a kid driving a tractor at 90-cents an hour...before taxes.

Iron BuckFlaigs was an AWESOME place. I wish it was still around. With the talent they had at the time. And do not forgert about Unertal....they were 10 minutes away on East Street. As a kid I lived a block from them.

What was an "ACE" barrel? I have a Flaigs ACE in 25-06 built before Rem. legitimized the cartridge. I've often wondered about that. It's a real shooter.

Flaig ACE barrels were made by Douglas.
