270 WSM groups (pic)
I went out today for the first time after dropping my factory (except trigger to #3.0) 270 WSM model 70 classic SS into an HS precision stock. I was quite pleased with the groups at 100 yards. The load was 65.0 and 66.5 gr. RL19, WLR primer and a 135 grain sierra MK.

Nice group. I shoot three shot groups too and used 150 MKs in my M70 SS Classic 7MM WSM with 7828. The groups looked just like yours. I really like these rifles.

Why did you get the HS stock? How much does it weigh compared to the factory stock?

I got the HS because the plastic stock that came with it is junk. It weighs about 2-2.5 pounds, probably a little more than the factory stock but it feels MUCH better, and helps with accuracy.

I thought H-S only made a stock for Winchester long actions. Am I wrong? I hope so. Terry

Explain what you mean by "junk". You may think my car is junk but I like it. Be specific as I am trying to learn about these stocks.

Well how much does it weigh? there is an 8 oz difference between 2 and 2.5 lbs. What do you mean it "feels" much better?

I have a new B&C stock here for that rifle and it does not "feel" as good as the factory stock to me because of the rough finish. It's also 3 oz heavier.

Savage99 welcome to the forum. Many things are subjective, especially gun stock feel. If you like the factory stock keep it. I didn't weigh my HS stock becase it really doesn't matter all that much to me, They claim in their website that the sporter range from 2-2.5 pounds, mine is probably closer to 2 because it's a short action. When I stated that my accuracy was improved I meant by bedding, if you're not familiar with bedding (or just bedding blocks in stocks) do a seach and you can find a wealth of info on this subject.
