I'd like to give a first post hello. Lots of good info on this board.

What would be the best all around bullet for the 8mm mauser for deer and hogs? I've heard the 185gr corlokts have a tendency to come apart when driven faster than 2600fps. I want to get the most in terms of trajectory though so I was thinking of using a 200gr bullet driven to 2600fps. Perhaps a 195gr Hornady or 200gr Speer. This will be used in a Rem 700. Any thoughts?? Thanks.

I have actually had excellent luck with the 170 grain SMP from Speer, followed by the 175 grain SP from Sierra...

I haven't used the 195 Hornady but I have used the 200 grain Speer.. I really think it is better served in an 8 mm Mag than the 8 x 57.....

In the tests Ive done the 185 gn CL's proved to be much more stout than their reputation. The 195 gn Hornadys should perform well as well as the 200 gn Accubonds. I would suggest the Accubonds for hogs and the 180 gn BT's for deer.

I think you'll be surprised how fast you can run them in that Remmy 700.

I been shooting 200 gr Nosler Partition 2nds from Shooters pro shop. I think they cost around $15 per 50. They shoot mighty fine too!!

I'm sure that every bullet reccommended so far will fill your need. It is hard for me to accept on hearsay that the 185 gr.CORE-LOKT is going to fail on deer and pigs at 2700fps. Unless you have some real evidence shine it on and see how it works for you. Maybe a 1000# Hogszilla hit in the ham bone at 200 yards will be a problem??????????

What is your concern about trajectory ? Do you intend to shoot your game farther out than 300 yards? At 2700 fps. that 8mm 185 gr. bullet will reach out for you.roger
