Heym Rifles
I am looking at additional projects and found a Heym 210 Sporter 98%. Very nice rifle, I dont mind paying top dollar for quality, but are these units worth it, Accuracy potential, quality ect? Stock has satin finish, and is nicely ballanced with excellent quality. Any one own one?

I have had a couple of Heym SR20 rifles. I have found them to be top quality. The 7x57 I owned could shot 0.3 MOA with no tinkering right out of the box.

Top dollar but worth it IMHO.

I have an O/U Heym with two sets of barrels, one 12Ga/12Ga., and one set 20 GA over a .30/'06 with claw mounts. The rifle barrel is extremely accurate, and the damn gun is built like a bank vault! A little heavy, but so superbly balanced that it handles like it weighed two pounds less than it does. Heyms are very high quality. I don't know what their bolt-action rifles are bringing today, but I always thought they were a tad over-priced!! So is their version of the Ruger No. 1!

BR, I have never owned a Heym myself - so take what I say as second hand information. Still, maybe this is of interest. My gunsmith here in Switzerland swears by the Heyms, both in terms of accuracy and quality but also with regards to the barrels. Just the other day, our very own AR member StuC asked him about "best factory LH bolt action" and the answer was Heym.

Heym also makes some fantastic combined guns (rifle/shot combinations)- sidelocks and all. I have seen some that are so much more elegant than my Krieghof or Blasers. Unfortunately, they are also rather pricey. Heym was a top level address just a few years ago here in Europe, but fell on hard times when Blaser took over (almost) the entire market.

I have an SR20N in 30-06 that's 18 years old and has functioned flawlessly since I got it. My wife has taken it over and loves it. It shoots well, looks good, and is a quality product. I have however heard of problems here on AR with their "Express" rifle in the large (600NE etc) caliburs. But as far as I know, their "regular/small" rifles havn't been problematic.

If you like the one you're looking at, go for it!

PS. try to see if you can test shoot it. Always a good idea if possible!
