Hunterbugprice check?
What's the approximate value of a Pre '64 model 70 Winchester 30-06 Featherweight in about 90% condition? I found one at a pawnshop today for 350 bucks and I was wondering if it was a super screaming deal or just a moderately screaming deal.

SnowwolfeLook thru the barrel with a bore scope and remove the stock from the action before even considering if it is a "good deal". Its bascially just a used M70.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

HunterbugI ooked down the bore and it looked real good. I did not remove the action as I had my kids and the todler was getting into everything!

I looked on places like auctionarms, gunbroker and cabelas and didn't see any for under 500.

wildcat junkieAround here $350 is the average price for any used M70/M700 in good condition with no gaurantee as to accuracy.
This being a Pre64 M70, it sounds like a good deal to me.
At worst, you should be able to get your mmoney back if it turns out to be a "dog" accuracy wise.

Tex21If it is a true pre-64 Mod 70, the action may go for $350 alone.
For $350, I don't think you'd be wrong to buy it. Worst scenario, it doesn't shoot. Screw on a $200 barrel and pay a gunsmith to bed the rifle for you and have basically a brand new rifle.
For $350, I'd buy it...

jro45Sounds good to me. My model 70 feather weight isn't pre 64 And its price wasn't that low when I bought it.

HunterbugTwo people have already told me that they would give me my money back plus shipping. I bet they would! I haven't decided yet what I'll do keep it or make a tidy profit for a Leupold for my other Pre '64.

You better go get it before you start "spending the profits".
It might not be there if you "dally around" too long.

HunterbugOh no, I put it on layaway imeadiately. I knew that it wouldn't last and that someone was going to get a good deal and I made sure that it was me.
