Norma 9.3 Plastic Points
I've not been able to find any Norma 9.3 285gr Oryx bullets to load for my favorite 9.3x62 recipe. I did run across a decent supply of 285gr Norma Plastic Points. I can't seem to find any info on these. Does anyone have any experience to share? Are these bullets bonded like the Oryx, or are they more akin to the discontinued Nosler Ballistic Tip but in a heavier weight? Thanks in advance.

I believe they are a simple non bonded cup & core bullet. But that doesn’t necessarily make them a bad choice depending on what your using them on.

From what I have read, especially reports in the book “9.3X62 Mauser Journal 3rd Complete Revised Edition 2021 Hendrik van der Schÿff ISBN: 978-0-473-60580-3" See: “Real-World Study In 9.3X62 Projectile Behaviour (By Dyane Horrigan)

The Norma plastic point bullet is a quick opening, fragmenting bullet suitable for quick kills on smaller big game. It is not a controlled expansion deep penetrating bullet. It is not closely comparable to the Oryx.

I just bought that book the other day. I’m only part way through it.

bluefish, just copy “9.3X62 Mauser Journal 3rd Complete Revised Edition 2021 Hendrik van der Schÿff ISBN: 978-0-473-60580-3" into your browser and hit search. I get about six sources of the digital version at the top of the search, and some of those have the print version available for sale as well.

In the middle of reading my copy right now.
Excellent value book for anyone interested in the 9.3 or just firearms/hunting in general. Well researched, full of first hand experiences , load data, interesting facts and good photographs.
