The look of the grip is deceiving. Its really not too short. If you read Art Alpin's reloading manual, "Any Shot You Want", he explains how he came up with the stock design to reduce felt recoil.
I have six rifles in 416 Rigby caliber. All are similar in weight to the A-Square rifle. I can tell you that the A-Square stock does work as designed, it reduces felt recoil when compared to the other 5 rifles.
