Zeiss Rapid Z 600 reticle
Just got a new 270 Win, looking to dress it with the new Zeiss 3x15 HD5 w/ a Rapid Z 600 reticle. Anyone use that reticle? How do you like it?

I have used the rapid z reticles in various calibers and find them to work very well. It is my favorite hunting reticle. The z 600 should be perfect for your 270, but you will have to figure out what power the reticle will come in with your favorite loads. Zeiss has a calculator on their web site.

I have two of those scopes and like them a lot. Not as easy to see and use as a duplex type cross hair. But once you are used to them, they are great.

Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

As long as all your ballistic parameters are constant a preset reticle works.

Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."

The great thing about the Rapid Z is that it's not preset but may be adjusted to your individual load. As long as you know the muzzle velocity from your rifle and the bullet's accurate BC.....it's pretty easy to run the numbers through the online calculator and get the exact magnification required for your load. Change loads and you can readjust for that load.

Having used the Rapid Z system from the day it was introduced.....I can't imagine not having it now. It's a very simple, quick and accurate hunting reticle.

Ok.
I've gone to mil reticles and dial or hold depending on distance.
