Mauser Mod. 66??
Hello,
Friend of mine has three of these rifles and a closet full of extra barrels. His favorite is the 25-06 and willing to part with one of the others to me if desired. I have known these model Mausers existed, but have no real knowledge of them. Are they of quality regarding accuracy and functionality?? Action seems a bit bizzare to me, but claims it works very well and dependable?? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks,
martin

richjThe barrels don't always pop out as easy as the new Blaser but the same principal. Accuracy is no different than any other rifle. Scope mounting can be a pain. I made the front mount for this set. rear mount is a Mauser front mount.

wildboarA friend of mine has a 66 stutzen cal. 7x64 since over 25 years and he doesn't think to sell it at any price; I'm always amazed at the small groups he can get, despite the fact that it's a full lenght stock model.
A remarkable rifle indeed.
Hello,
Thanks for the feedback and photos. The one I am considering is equipped w/ what I call an "European," hogback stock w/ definite sculpted cheekpiece. The wood is highly figured and checkering is very nicely done as well. I am going to visit w/ him in week or so and give it a closer look. He won't price the thing to me and wants me to make him a "fair" offer, but at a bit of a loss for what the market is for these rifles. Money does matter to him, but not that much compared to most mortals. Any suggestions as to a fair price?? Thanks,
martin
