The F/TR given the choices.

It all really depends upon what your trying to do with it but the F/TR is a purpose built design as apposed to the other being totally built for the wannabe crowd with all the cool tactical looking stuff.

I really wouldn't buy either one because I would rather have a different caliber than the 308 and Savage doesn't offer any configuration that suits me. I custom build em to my liking.

If your serious about a Savage try an ER Shaw MK VII custom. http://www.ershawbarrels.com/ Your spending the same money anyway so you might as well get something for it.

I'm sure they will both shoot extremely well. To the Captain's point, they are both very different looking. One is stainless and laminate, the other is a little more tactical and black. I would go with the one you find more cosmetically appealing.

willl---The beauty of a .308 over a 30-06 is that the .308 is a short cartidge and works better in actions other than bolt than the 30-06. If you are not going to use this "beauty", why not get a 30-06? You can load it down to .308, but not load the .308 up to 30-06. This is not to say the .308 is not a great round--just my opinion in bolt action you may as well go 30-06 which is also a great round.

Neither, both are too heavy to carry all day on a hunt.
