Charles_Helm9.3x62 Target/Bench Rest?
I have to admit that
this one confuses me just a bit.

Charles_HelmMaybe it was built as a companion to the
.458 bench rest rifle I found a week or so ago (originally posted under "Big Bores").

RiodotI guess it was made for a benchrest shooter that enjoyed recoil - Wait! - it's a heavy rifle, not as much recoil. - Wait! - maybe a hunter who loved to carry bull barrel rifles - Wait! - my brain hurts............................I guess the guy who made it was just NUTS.

I love the 9.3x62 caliber though.

I'm with you there, but mine is fairly light with a trim barrel.

458WinMaybe the builders of those rifles saw the old Weaver adds where Slim Pickens had a large target scope on a 458.
Seriously though, when I was in Vietnam, the 4th division sniper school was playing with the 458 as they thought it might do what the Barrett now does. I also hear Russia is using some 9.3x64 sniper rifles as their answer to the 338 Lapua.
It takes all sorts.

Rick RMust be some BIG groundhogs in Virginia

But who am I to quibble with my 12 pound AR-15 and 8 pound 9.3x62?

Paolo9,5x73Look, locals don't even know what 9,3x62 is. Find me one shop in VA, USA that has a box of ammo in stock!

Paolo9,5x73PS. Thay hunt those half wild pigs on game farms from stands there, so it might be of some use to a lazy fart, provided it's accurate enough, of couse.
