Re: Lyman Alaskan 2.5x Scope???
Some ring sets that have the "plastic gimbel" liners, are available with two sets of liners, for either 1" or 7/8" scope tubes. My memory is not razor sharp this afternoon, but I think Burris might be one such.

Both Talley and Warne have made 7/8" rings..That is what I use...I also have some Weavers, Redfields and Buehlers. I think Talley still makes them as does Buehler...

But for the old Lyman one really needs windage adjustments in the base, so the Redfields and Buehlers are the best route for most guns...I think Buehler still makes rings and std bases will work with them...Redfield, and several other bases will work with the Redfield 7/8"...Lots of those at gunshows as they were used on the old Springfields by Uncle Sam....At any rate they are out there.

I just looked at the only two Alaskans that are on e-Bay today, and they are NOT going for $20.00! However, an attendant difficulty today is that no-one I could find is making mount rings for HP rifles in 7/8" dia. any more. tip-offs for .22 RF's, yes, but not for regular mount bases. Not enough demand, I guess.
