If it's like the 2 I have, it'll poke em close together.
Being rebarrelled to a 7-08 or a .260 is the best thing that can happen to a .243. Both are superior cartridges that can drive a 140gr ball at very useful velocities.

If you're not set on building a 260, the 6.5 Creedmoor's shorter case length allows long VLD bullets to fit in a typical short action magazine. I have both, 260 x24 and 6.5 Creedmoor x7, but mostly have been shooting the 6.5 Creedmoor since 2014. If you're going to shoot factory ammo, the 6.5 Creedmoor ammo is much better than 260 ammo, even the least expensive Hornady American Whitetail 129 grain hunting load is capable of MOA accuracy in my rifles.

I had a Kimber 84 in .260 Rem once, now my father has it via trade. It had a 1:9 twist and it did not like factory 140s much. I handloaded some 129 Hornady SPs and it shot MOA and done very well on deer. My CZ550 FS in 6.5x55 has a ever so slightly faster 1:8.6 twist and shoots 140 Hornady SPs very nicely. Pay attention to twist rate, 1:9 might be a little finicky.

Love my 260. It's great for punching paper also for high power silhouette shooting. Also for a lot of different North American hunting. Lapua makes brass for the round. Just my opinion

Easily the best thing to ever happen to the 308. It is a gem.

I have an LR308 (DPMS patterned AR10) chambered in 260 Rem that I use to punch holes out to 1,000 yards. It won't shoot as well as my bolt guns. But I probably didn't spend enough effort to refining the loads for it.

I bought two savage model 11 rifles in 260.They are super accurate use 308 brass necked down because I.Have a ton of it .I have shot under an inch with ever load and bullet I tried.I used 155 grain lapua mega tips and they shoot tiny cloverleaf groups 100 yards and under an inch at 250 yards .I love this caliber it's awesome for deer .I.Have two 264 win mag rifles and they have been sitting in the closet lately because of my.new 260 rifles !
