Sellier & Bellot bullets
Anyone have any experience with Sellier and Bellot bullets? I have inherited 200 x 180 gr .30 cal bullets and want to trade/ sell them.
My guess is that they are the equivalent of traditional cup-and-core bullets such as Hornady Interlocks or Speer Hot-Cors.
Any comments appreciated.

It sounds like you got these:

SB – Bullet SP
A semi-jacketed bullet consisting of a metallic jacket and a lead core. The lead core is bare in front. When hitting the target, it gets deformed aand produces a mushroom-like shape, which enhances the lethal effect. It is used for most types of rifle cartridges and, depending on caliber weight, it is used for cloven-hoofed game hunting in particular.

ALF
standard thin jacketed cup and core
Relatively cheap and works well in mild mannered euro's..... the minute you turn up the volume they turn to mush ! Will work well with thin skinned targets.

I am from Czech Republic, where it is made. I don't use it. I use swift a-frame and norma oryx.

It is "cheap traditional" bullet construction. It will fragment easy when hit the bone, venison full of lead particles. Few times happened to my friends, that it disintegrated so fast that it didn't kill the game.

Because it is relatively cheap, a lot of old hunters still use it. They like it. But they like it because they didn't try anything else. And ammo with premium bullet is 3x the price.

When crimping, it feels like butter.

Thanks for the response and I guess that it confirms my original statement that S&B bullets are the equivalent of standard "cup-and-core" bullets.

I note the JIRI comment. In Germany they say that S & B stands for "scheises und billig" which is perhaps a bit unfair. Google the translation.

Within the limitations of their design they do the job properly and well. Try to make them work outside their velocity template and like everyone else's bullets they won't.

So they are good standard cup and core bullets that work as well as X's or Y's standard cup and core bullets and in weights and sizes that US makers often don't provide.

Oh...last but not least...put a magnet to them just to check if they aren't like some Norma .303 soft point bullets were in the 1980s copper washed steel jackets.
