hard luck358 Win
When this thread started I was down to 1 blr .358 But, I looked at a Ruger Hawkeye , matt/wood and it followed me home ! Haven't shot it yet but it is one fine handeling rifle, handsome too. Like one guy said a Serious hunting rifle. I'm going to put a 4x40 on it. With good reloads it is a real thumper !

Joe DeanPegleg, That's a real handsome rifle!
hard luck, Tell us how the Ruger shoots after you try it out. I think we used to e-mail each other some time back. Seems I send you some reloading data.

hard luckI believe we did ! I've bneeen in and out of hospitals for the past two yrs. But, I feel good enough to hunt this year. If you have the August issue of Handloader there are some fine loads in it for the .358 TAC powder. I shot my last bear in 2005, it was the non-resident record for the year !512 lbs 216/16" one shot from my little blr .358 I have another hunt booked for next May and I'm sure looking forward to seeing the outdoors again. God Bless,

N E 450 No2I have never had a 358 Win.
However I have taken a lot of game with a 308, a few animals with a 350 Rem Mag, and quite a bit of game with a 9,3x74R.
Also I have read many hunting tales of the success of the 35 Whelen.
Baised on that, I feel the 358 Win Mag would be a great hunting calibre for North America.
