Double AANew Tikka On The Way...
and I just heard their rings are a problem. This is my first Tikka and from the pictures I've seen it seems they use a dovetail system. Theres no sense in mounting a scope if it's not going to be reliable. I see Talley has their LW one piece rings available for the T3.
Does anyone have any experience?

6.5 SWEDEHad A bit of A problem with my T-3 lite's rings, had to mill some stock off the rings to get them to center on the recevier. It was'nt that bad, but you can use a differnt mount if you like, did you get wood or syn. I got the SS/Syn. for the low maint.
6.5 SWEDE.

handwerkThe rings you get with the gun will be fine unless you take them on and off a bunch, soft screws. The talley LW's are great and the lows work well with a 40mm scope. Well done on going with the t-3, enjoy!

Double AAI like the idea of saving weight by doing away with the mounts, as long as it reliable. I bought the lite/stainless for the same reason Swede mentions plus it will be one of the lightest rifles I presently own. Being left handed cuts down on the selection of rifles. Recoil shouldn't be a factor with the rings as the caliber is 270WSM. I have a 3.5x10x40 Leupold I'll use on it. It should weight less than 7 1/2 lbs field ready.

Indlovui have a Tikka t3 lite in 338 win mag. Couldnt get it to group well with the original rings it came with. Looks like they are Millet rings. Changed to leupold rings, same scope, great 1-1.5 inch groups. I would get new rings.

Yes, the Sako/Tikka Optilocks are are excellent mounts indeed. They are the only mounts I will use on my Tikka's.

ELKMAN2My T3 lite,SS in 300win shoots MOA or less with the factory rings, They aren't the prettiest but so far they hold zero.
have a t3 in 9.3x62, so far the standard tikka rings have held fine. this is the battue model, topped with a leupold 1-5, its a shooter.

However, the tikkas and sakos work well with optilocks

ReloaderThe factory rings are nothing fancy but they work.
I rescently bought two Tikka T3s, on one I installed DD all steel rings and bases. The steel DD setup was much heavier than the factory rings if you are looking to cut weight.
I installed the factory rings on the second rifle, a 300WM with Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40. They worked fine and didn't look bad. The rings are plenty solid and they have a recoil lug.
Good Luck

IndlovuI am afraid the Milet rings that come with the Tikka T3 are complete junk, if used in a caliber with some decent recoil (mine was a 338) sel em on ebay and get decent warne or similar rings.
