300WSM for Canadia deer
Ok guys, I need some input for bullet for Alberta whitetail and mulie. I was planning to use the remainder of the 180TBBC that I used in Africa, but I have been told they are not good over 250 yds. (??)

What say ye??

I have never used 180TBBC's before , so I don't know anything about them but I do know that 180 Accubonds kill Montana deer pretty darn good. Big Grin

if the tbbc shoots best in your file, i'd use them. if you reload, you might want to try either 165 or 180s in the accubond, interlocks, partitions, and so on. if you don't handload, and have enough cash to try out different manufactured cartridges, i'd try those i just mentioned. of course, plenty of deer have been (and will be again ths year) killed quite cleanly with winchester power points. whatever you select, i hope you have a great hunt.

Canadian deer are not bullet proof and a TBBC fired from a WSM, should do the job easilly to the point that you desire to walk out to collect your trophy.

The tbbc does have a lower bc than comparable weight spitzer design bullets. However, the effective range of the 180 gr tbbc will not be determined by the bullet itself, but rather the shooter's capabilities.

I've used that bullet in my 300 Win on 7 safaris for plains game up to eland at ranges up to 350 yards with wonderful performance. Use them with no concerns!

Bullsprig,
I commented on the TBBC's in the Canadian forum along with a couple other guys there. I'm hoping you didnt loose any confidence in what a TBBC can do up in Canada on deer.
The TBBC is a great bullet. It will smack our northern deer hard and will put them down nicely. I simply prefer something with a slightly higher BC and think you can get away with using something that is not constructed quite as 'heavy-duty'.
I personally prefer a bullet like the Accubond or the Parition. I think they open up a bit better on deer and at longer ranges they will shoot a bit flatter.
By all means though, shoot them TBBC's and take lots of pics, they'll work great and knock em down hard...

Ask who ever told you that if they are willing to stand at 251 yds and find out (grin)

When I read that I just had to laugh. As little as I think about the WSM’s it does have more going for it than a .308 Winchester which I know has harvest lots of deer at ranges over 300 easily. Someone is full of Bull pucky!

Why the 180's?
After all they are only deer, although a bit bigger bodied than many of the varieties from South of the 49th.
I run 165's in my 300WSM, and it has never been wanting on Alberta deer.
But of course the TBBC will do the job, but I really feel your into a super premium bullet when it's not really warrented in this situation.
