hmmmm...I seem to have read lots of posts from lots of people who think the 270WSM is amazingly accurate...I happen to be one of them.
But that not withstanding....the fact that "X" number of people have had "accuracy problems with this round" CANNOT be extrapolated to conclude that the round is more or less accurate than any other.
If all these folks are having accuray problems, look first at the rifles, not the cartridge.

phurley5I have been a .270 WSM fan ever since I shot a 130 grain North Fork bullet 3455 fps and got a one hole group. I read AR daily several times and cannot remember excessive grips about accuracy. My decision is which to buy next and have decided it will be the new Model 70 Winchester Stainless. It is so popular with me, my son and grandsons, everyone wants to shoot it and they have not pried it out of my hands yet during hunting season. Good shooting.

I've never had problems with cartridges and components...only rifles that need to be tuned.

Me too. My brother bought a rifle some years ago that wouldn't shoot ANYthing less than 3" at 100 yards.
Bedding did very little.
Recrown did very little.
Changed pillar bedded wood stock to synthetic stock, reduced groups to 1".
Finally rebarreled a year later with a Lilja and trued action. Bingo, sub-moa.

Do a search on this forum and you will find that Shootaway has made some of the silliest, and most ignorant posts made on this site. Remember the "Shooting Ballerina" etc..
Anything Shootaway posts needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Sorry to be so blunt and rude but if you will research some of his past posts you'll see exactly what I'm talking about......................DJ

PAHunterHi Haterock:
I think DJ hit the nail on the head. After you resize check your shell lenght. You should have a maximum shell lenght in your reloading manual to guide you.
The only other excuse could be you got a bad resizing die, that seems far fetched but stranger things have happened.

Sport FultonHowdy,
I've had two M70's in 270 WSM - both not as accurate as my M70's in 270 Winchester. Just my two cents.
Adios

AtkinsonThe WSMs are certainly good killers and they shoot plenty flat, the problem is we have a multitude of cartridges that have been doing that for years..The WSM's and RUM's have nothing to offer, and they are not selling well which indicates to me they will be short lived because the bean counters will dump them and you in a heartbeat.

MileHighShooterNot selling well? I know the RUM's, the SAUM's, WSSM's and particularly the 7mmWSM aren't doing well, but where is some hard data that the 270 and 300 short mags are doing poorly? I see just about every single new rifle coming out chambered in these, and I see new factory loaded ammo with whatever the flavor of the month bullet made in these rounds. One I thing I don't see very often, at least locally mind you, is many WSM's on the used racks, other then demo's of discontinued models.
If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

phurley5When I see all the manufacturers building rifles for the .270 WSM round, I would conclude that the chambering is here to stay. Folks it is way too good to be slamed, particularly those who have the old .270 Win and knew a good thing when they saw it, well this WSM is something to behold, when you shoot it. Good shooting.

ron williamsI seem to recall reading an old magazine article written around 1900 that said the 30-30 Winchester would not be around much longer and would slowly die out. The writer must of meant sometime in the next three centurys. The 270WSM and the 300WSMs will out last us all.

MileHighShooterI'm not trying to stir the pot or anything, I'm actually curious! If there is some numbers out there I'd love to see it. Whether its a failed idea or not, I'll still keep a few around regardless.

The WSM's are selling quite well, the 7 isn't doing that great but the 270 and 300 WSM are selling like gangbusters and the 325 is doing better than expected. They are going to outlive all of us.............................DJ
