New rifle
I was thinking of buying a new rifle something under $1000 in 338 WM Synthetic. Looking for a accurate rifle. I'll mount a Zeiss 3x9 Conquest on it. What are your thoughts???

If you want to put a Zeiss on it and stay under $1k then you should watch the paper, pawn shops, ect. and pick up one that someone dumps after seasons close.

I bought one of the extremely disliked Rugers years ago and mine shoots so well I wouldn't sell it to you for what your wanting to spend. Razzer Nate

Rob,

How about one of the Savage synthetics? Their current rifles really are accurate, and you would be looking at about $500 for a synthetic model.

The .30-'06 American I just got shoots under 3/4 minute. It is the most accurate '06 factory hunting rifle I have tried.

If you have the scope, I would go with a Kimber. Light weight and controlled feed.

Guys, I have the scope already it's the rifle that will be around $1000 or less. Anyone own a Vanguard MOA I can get one for about $800 and they are less than MOA with factory Ammo say there press

How about a Remington 700 XCR? A trigger job and your good to go.

Saw a nice Win. Model 70 stainless synthetic, classic CRF in .338 Win. Mag. at the gunshop yesterday, with a nice (IIRC) Leupold illuminated variable on top for $1,200. PM me if interested.

Rob1SG, nothing at all wrong with the Vanguard Sub MOA rifles... They pick an already accurate rifle from the lot then add the composite stock and pillar bed the action... They then verify it is sub MOA on the range and ship out the rifle with the target...

Not a bad choice for the money... I don't know how it will handle hand loads but I'm sure like anything else you can find the right one...

I've seen a .338 Ruger SS/Syn on the pawn shop shelf just the other day. If you are interested, PM me.

If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.

I have seen several new Sako 75 Stainless Synthetic rifles in this caliber in shops for about this price (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less). I think that Sako and Zeiss would make a fine marriage in .338 WM. Good luck.

45/70 Govt.
Sako stainless/synthetic in the shop. Zeiss 3 - 9 Conquest on it. 30-06. Can't quite remember what they're asking, but remember that I can afford it.

I need to get a second gun safe.

I'm not into Pawn shop rifles. I'm off to check the local Gun shops today.

I also suggest the Tikka T3. Great adjustable trigger, extremely smooth action, and 1" groups @ 100 yds guarantee. I have two and would never sell them.

I haven't been on this site in a while, but they had very good prices on rifles:
