Charles_Helm450 NE No 2 has taken all manner of game with one (including buff and elephant I believe) -- you should talk to him.
Many will say it is a bit light for DG except under ideal circumstances. You will have to check local rules as well to see where it is DG legal.
You might get more feedback on the Double Rifle board.

PeterI too have a 9.3x74R which I am growing to dearly love. It is a Tikka 512. I would certainly like to hear anecdotal evidence of penetration of various kinds of bullets. It seems to me that a good solid at 2500-2600fps would go pretty deep. Not the diameter of a 416 or 45 , so not a stopper perhaps, but should still be a good round. Not to hijack your thread but anyone know where it is legal for DG?

KebcoI shot a cape buff with a 9.3x74 and would do it again. Its not a "stopper" but kills about the same as a 375 H&H from my experience.

AkshooterThe biggist thing I've taken with a 9.3x74 was a eland. Dropped him in his tracks.
i've taken half a dozen boar in France with one as well and hits em hard. As I'm sure you assume it works well on plains game.
I've taken several brown bears and been present on many more. I haven't seen one hit with the 9.3 but I woulden't have to think twice about using one.
