Accuracy International?
Is anyone familiar w/ Accuracy Intl rifles? A local gun shop has one for sale. The gun is 10 years old and never been fired. I was told these guns start life as a Rem 700 action which has been trued. I question the supposed machining since I pulled the bolt and it didn't appear to have lapped lugs. This rifle appears to have a stock barrel as well and is chambered in .308. There is no documentation w/ the rifle. Overall, the rifle appears to be perfect. What should I be looking for w/ this gun? What would I expect to pay for it? Any help is appreciated.

TIA,

Steve.

All the Accuracy International rifles I have seen were their own action , barrel and stock. They do sell a "chassis system" for 700's (custom stock, basically), perhaps that is what this is. They are a sniper type rifle, clip fed, military type bipod mounting, available folding stock. Quite accurate, and available in such interesting calibers as 338 Lapua and 50 BMG. They have a web site if you do a search, and Wolverine Supply is their dealer here in the great white north (they aalso have a web site). - Dan

AI, rifles used their own actions, 2 in fact one for the 308 lenght and then one for the 338 Lapua, This is the same rifle used by the Brits and a couple of others for sniper work, Their composite stock is offered for the Remington action, that mite be what your looking at, Most of the new "AI's" I have seen lately are going for about 5K

Thanks for the information. I found the AI website and the contact info for their North American division in TN. This gun was definitely a Remington 700 action. I did some more research and noticed they sell the chasis system you guys referenced above. I'm starting to believe that's what this is. I'm gonna look at it again and check the barrel manufacturer.

The rifle looked very familiar to the ones I saw the British Royal Marines using in the History Channel Sniper series I saw a couple of months ago.

Thanks again,

Steve.
