Winchester help
I have been looking at a model 70 westerner with serial number G15209xx. What can you guys tel me about this gun and how much is it worth. I thought that the westerner was only made in 264 WM and 30-06 but this one is suposed to be a 7mm RM.

Is there a site anywhere that I can look up a serial number on?

Any info or help appreciated.

The G Prefix denotes the rifle is not a pre-64. The pre-64 Westeners were .264 Mag Only. I'm not real familar with the post-64s until they brought the claw back.

Could this be a XTR?

I think I agree with nyrifleman that the "Westerner" is defined by:
Pre-64 hump on the bolt
264 WM chamber
26" barrel w/ sights
As to what it's worth, mine is priceless.

I've seen the pre64 Westerner in 264 WinMag only go for 3000+
depending on condition....they had 26 inch barrels.
