Ruger Frontier Rifle?
Can you safely mount a normal scope, say a Conquest 3-9x40mm, using the traditional mount spacing over top of the bolt on a Frontier rifle chambered in .338 Fed? This rifle would have a thicker recoil pad (1") than the factory pad. Would the medium Ruger ring height clear a 40mm objective given the forward scope mount rail on this rifle?

Thanks

In my opinion yes. I had a Frontier in .308 and I did not see any problem. It is actually, a little longer then their compact models.

if you take the scope base on the barrle off you can use med rings, but on mine I had to use Highs with mt 3.5-10X40 Mark 4 it was a close fit but it worked....

Thank you. Since I have never handled one, I wasn't sure how short/small the stock was and did not want to worry about being scoped between the eyes. I'm not even sure of the .338 Federal's recoil.
