ColoradoMattNew Winchester Model 70 Westerner 270?
Perusing Gunbroker, I noticed several new Win Model 70 “Westerner” models for sale in 270. Anyone know when these were made? I’m guessing they were a shot-show special from within the last couple years. The price range is from about $800-$1300.
These seem identical to the 2013 Cabela’s special run of Westerners in 7mm Mag. I love open sighted rifles, such as these, with stocks that let you comfortably use the open sights. They remind me of the pre-64 low comb rifles that point so well with open sights. All of Winchester’s other current model 70 stocks are suited more for use with scopes. Even the big bore safari rifles are a bit uncomfortable for me with open sights. While I view the 7mag and 270 with respect, I personally don’t use them, and if I did, they would be housed in a scoped rifle platform. I’d like to see the westerner in 30-06, 35 Whelen, 9.3x62 (Keep dreaming!), or 375 H&H.

CougarzWell Winchester does make a .375 in the Alaskan and it's pretty much the same weight as the Westerner.

I just don’t like the Alaskans chunky humpback stock, and the open sights don’t line up for me quite as well.
