Like all else they come in different grades. That's not a bad retail price for a new gun; I doubt you could beat it on the net. Most bring $1400 on up to 1800 for standard rifles. Small market and hard to resell in most circles, though. Fantastic weapon, IMHO.

I think it's a real good deal. Quality of Sauer 90 rifles is outstanding in terms of precision an used materials. Maybe the stock is lacquerd but I think this is quite normal for rifles in the US market. Sauer 90 rifles are extremley smooth when operating the action. I would be happy to get this kind of rifle for that price, unfortunately I'm a left hand shooter and Sauer do not produce this modell as left hand one. Don't hestiate to buy it, surely you will be never disapointed.

A local dealer has a Sauer 90 NIB that has been gathering dust for a year. I can buy the rifle, out the door, for $1100. Is it worth the freight? The only thing that I have seen that compares are my Mannlicher Schoenauer MCAs. Really slick action, but rifle is a tad heavy. The rifle is 7 Mag. Any and all opinions would be appreciated. This is the first Sauer 90 that I have handled.

I have never shot a Sauer 90 but have handled one and found the action to be extremely smooth like you did. No idea about price etc but I think they have stopped selling them in the USA though they still make them in Europe in plain as well as very high grade custom versions.

I just got a 202 Alaska in .375, even though I shoot my Blasers extensively the 202 is a great gun! Going to shoot it this week

Guys: As far as I can determine from my Gun Digest listings, this rifle is the "Supreme" version. It has nice wood, with glossy (ugh) finish, contrasting rosewood forend and pistol grip tips, jeweled bolt, barrel mounted front swivel, and gold trigger. I'm going back to the shop on Tuesday to dicker a bit. I just wish the rifle wasn't so dammed heavy. I'm guessing about 8.5 lbs bare, so it will go about 10 pounds scoped. Bansner makes a 21 oz composite stock for the 90 for about 2 bills. Stoney

To give you an idea about the worth of that rifle. In Germany, where I live, that rifle comes up to about 2500 Euro, which means to the current exchange rate approx. 3100 US-$, I think that's a great deal to get this rifle for 1100 bucks. An alternative is a stock from McMillan, if you don't mind to buy from that family/company. If you mostly do stalking it is not the ultimate choice due to the weight and the barrellength (I guess 26''). But the Sauer 90 is the top class bolt action rifle in Germany, coming close to custom bolt aciton rifle. If I had to choose between a Dakota bolt action rifle and a Sauer 90, I would take the last one immedeatley. It's so bad, that this rifle is not available for left hand shooters.

Aleko, prepare yourself for another great experience. Here's the target backing of my 202's (7x64) first visit to the range in '95. I started load development with 6 different charges and 3 bullet weights = 30 shots all in 2.6 MOA.



It's been a 5-shot .4 MOA rifle with several hunting loads ever since.
