Heavy bullets in .358 WIN
Has anyone used heavy bullets in the .358 winchester? Like 280-310 grains.
Or can someone tell me about the performance of woodleighs 250gr bullet, on big game like boar and bear? Penetration, expansion.

Being a .358 Win fan I will comment although I have never loaded heavier than 250 grains in it.

I suppose a very heavy hard cast bullet with a Keith shape would be effective at moderate range but considering the expansion ratio of that cartridge you are just cutting into the powder supply. I don't know what problem such a bullet would solve that the 225 Nosler Partition could not do better except cost.

Guessing at a 300 gr bullet length of 1.35" my internal program shows room for 37 grains of powder at 1990 fps. This is what bigger cases do better.

monz With a 300gr. bullet you should be able to duplicate the ballistics of the 400/350 Nitro, 300gr. at @2150fps. Should be good with soft and solids for big stuff up close.
