.358 Winchester..who has one?
I have a Browning BLR light-weight 81' in .358 win with talley light weights and a Leupold 2-1/2 ultra light scope. This is one fine handling little carbine, shoots sub MOA with several bullets and powders AA2520 is great for 200gr bullets as well as Varget and IMR 4064. A lot of people dont like the looks of the BLR but it is very accurate and has the proper 1 in 12" twist rate, plus you can really crank that lever if need be, i love the .358 and am thinking about doing up a bolt in it. Although i do have a 35 Whelen in project form, man i love the 35 caliber as well as the 6.5 two ignored calibers in America but very effective.

RJM,

I have been telling marketing for the four years I have been there that the 358 is the way to go. I think the 35 caliber family is great, that is why I built one for myself. I hope they see the potential.

I built one on a Remington 700 action [short] with a Shilen #3 barrel, Kevlar stock etc. Damn thing shot scary groups with 225 gr bullets and I doubt if it could`a got much better. The guy I made it for decided [after the fact] to have it lightened. It only weighed a tad over 7.0 scoped, loaded and ready to go. I warned him against it citing accuracy concerns but he shipped if off it to someplace in AZ he knew of. It came back and wouldn`t hold 3 shots into 4" at 100. Basically a "minute of pie-plate" rifle. I rebarreled it again and now it is back to the same ORIGINAL accuracy. Now he is considering fluting?????? That`s ok too! Shilen has LOTS of barrels.LOL
Aloha, Mark

Here's mine,

It doesn't get shot much as I tend toward the Whelen in 35.

I like either 225gr TSX or NBT's. This little rifle has become my favorite hog gun. It is a true joy to carry and it swings and hits like a lightening bolt. It really shines in the swamps and other fast shooting close quarters situations. If I were ever to hunt leopard behind hounds I’m pretty sure this would be my choice of weapons.

This little cartridge kills WAY better than it has any right to. The TSX brings it to a new and awesome level of lethality!

My load is giving me right at 2400FPS

...if Winchester had a Half-A-Brain and still produced rifles like this they would still be in business... All I can say is beautiful.

Bohica...how long was the barrel, what was the twist and what did the people do when they "Lightened" it... 7 pounds would be just fine....

Headache...it is too bad no one up there will listen. I wrote several letters and didn't even recive a reply. I sent a letter to Ruger several years ago and got a nice reply that my suggestions had been sent to marketing...in a year I saw several of my suggestions come to be...and now almost all of them have. Just tell marketing next time they ignore you... "you ever heard of a company named Winchester?" Eeker
