Remington 700 "Mountain" Rifle in 7x57
Just picked up a nice 700 Mountain Rifle in 7x57. Going to use a Leupold 2-7x or 2.5-8x. What rings should I get to have bolt clearance (low or med)?

Thanks,

JDG

Leupold mediums would be my choice! Sounds like a great pickup. Should be a very pleasant hunting rifle! tu2

The 36mm objective side of the scope on the 2.5-8 will fit easily with low rings. The 2-7 seems to be a 33mm objective lens.

I have had 40mm on Talley lightweight lows.

Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times.

Good times create weak men. And, weak men create hard times.

Talley ultralight lows will allow you to mount a short 2.5-8 leupold. But the steel talleys won't allow it due to the short dimension of the scope iirc

If you plan any hunting wearing gloves, I would consider mediums. Here in PA we hunt in cold weather and clearance for the glove is a consideration.
Another vote for Talley light weights. I just used them on a model 70 FWT and really like them.
