Hey guys,
I am looking for a very explosive .277dia bullet to be used for coyotes. Is there anything that would do a better job then a fast paced light NBT? I've never loaded for .277 so I will take all the help I can !

OR the:

Speer 90gr TNT, Sierra 90gr HP, Hornady 110-gr VMax. Whichever your rifle tells you it likes best!

I don't have the browning 270wsm anymore but below is some loads I worked out with the 110 v-max.I shoot the 110 sierra pro hunter out of a rem sps and they should work wellthey are very accurate also.

Owensby - excellent shooting! looks to me like your gun really liked the 110gr Vmax! I am going to get some to try out in this Model 70 Coyote.

I am sure that those Vmaxs are fairly explosive on furred game, which is exactly what I am looking for.

Haven't whacked a coyote with them yet but I also use the V-max in my WSM and they are very accurate.

It's a coyote... whack'em with whatever you have handy.

90 grain sierra out of my .270 WSM almost will blow them in two. Exits the size of the mush ball.

the little Barnes do a great job too, but in a value per shot analysis, it's hard to beat the V-max. They shoot good out of several (5) WSM's I have.

I've also shot quite a few with the 90 gr. Sierra Varminter, which is VERY accurate for me.

Use whatever you hunt everything else with. Coyotes are easy to kill. I have taken several with my 30/06 and 180 grain corelocs. Kills em bang flop dead every time. Why bother changing loads and re-zeroing a scope when what you have will work fine.

I am sure that my guns from 22 lr to 458 win mag are highly capable of killing a coyote, I bought this 270 wsm just for varmints, and I would like to see some explosive results.

I'll have an update on the killing effect of the 90gr Sierra in upcoming weeks on both turtles and coyotes.

Try the light bullets and see which one shoots best, they will all give you the results that your looking for most of the time. I like the Nosler bal. tips and the V max bullets in most calibers..The Sierras are really explosive also and they usually shoot real well.

Don't be afraid to try the Speer 90 gr TNT in your .270WSM. I was surprised that it equaled the accuracy of the Sierra 90 gr HP in mine. Both Reloder 19 and IMR-4350 gave very good results.

I tested every varmint bullet available in .270 years ago, and at that time, the Sierra 90gr bullet was the most accurate. One could describe bullet perforance as "catastrophic" -- for the coyote!

MyNameIsEarl is not exaggerating -- they can end up in almost 2 pieces.

I did find that the Sierra 90gr was less likely to richochet than the Speer if that is important where you are shooting.
