Born to HuntHelp with my first rifle...my first "different" ri
I have taken a side job just for the purpose of buying an accurate hunting rifle. Now, I have owned Remington, Ruger, Savage, and Weatherby rifles. This time, I want a rifle that will shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards in a caliber suited for white tailed deer and elk. I like 30 caliber stuff because of bullet selection, but I am also a big 7mm Rem Mag fan. Anyway, what I really want to know is: SHould I have a custom rifle built (if yes, by who) or will a Sako or Tikka shoot that well? What are your thoughts?

HunterJimBTH,
First please answer a question: are you a half-minute shooter?

I was chatting with a guy Saturday who recently bought a Sako .30-'06 that he reported was guaranteed to shoot a half-minute. Of course, he says he is only about a one minute shooter, and less in the woods.
I would take a look at the CZ Model 3 or one of the Serengeti rifles using the M99 action. Both should get you there.
